Founded in 2015, Legacy Crop Improvement Center (LCIC) is an innovative seed company with state of art seed processing devices, drying equipment, and storage facilities. The company is located in Otareso in the Eastern Region of Ghana with its main activities inclusive of seed production (hybrid seed maize, soybean and cowpea), seed processing, seed drying, and storage, distribution and consultancy services.

With over 10 years’ experience in plant breeding and seed production, Amos Rutherford Azinu started LCIC to promote commercial seed production of hybrid corn seed, soybean and cowpeas in Ghana. He has since attracted over US$ 500,000.00 to the LCIC for research for development and has also facilitated the establishment of Legacy Square, a smart seed business center with state of art seed processing devices, the first of its kind in West Africa.

Since Inception, LCIC has supported the competitiveness of seed value chain in Ghana and West Africa through business and technical capacity building, and promoted effective collaboration. It has also continued to position itself to support the actors in developing their niches fully for collective benefits, thereby enhancing agricultural production that has improved the livelihood of farmers.

Through the Seed for Impact Program by AECF, Finding XY is  providing investment readiness and facilitation support to LCIC by developing key documents required for investment. LCIC is being coached and mentored by experts on leadership and management from the consulting team. By the end of the program, the LCIC shall be able to effectively pitch to investors and other funders. They will be able to articulate their growth plan and fundraising ask.
