Located in Kampala, Uganda, K.K Fresh Produce Exporters Limited (K.K Foods) is among the industry leaders in the exportation of fresh fruits and vegetables from Uganda to Europe and other continents. The Agri-SME exports fruits and vegetables which range from hot pepper, chili, sweet potato, African eggplant, and matooke (green banana).

Since its inception in 2011, K.K Fresh Produce Exporters Limited has been committed to providing complete agricultural solutions to Ugandan farmers with a clear vision to lead in the support of agriculture systems, quality seeds, and agro-chemicals while focusing on general farming, fustigation, and irrigation.

The Agri-SME’s model aims to improve farmer livelihoods and gender empowerment while contributing to a healthy living because small-holder farmers in Uganda are often exploited by middle men and traders, earning low incomes; this is in addition to income losses from food losses due to weather pattern changes.

Therefore, by up taking produce at above local market prices, the SME ensures that the farmers within its network make a decent living to adequately fend for their families. With a 68% of women in its existing farmer network, K.K foods recognizes the role women and youth continue to play in an inclusive world, by ensuring that they are well represented in all its networks and that its extension services are tailored to these two demographics, to support their financial empowerment.

The enterprise joined the Women in Agriculture Impact Investment (WAII) Facility in 2022 when the call for applications was rolled out. It is among the 16 Agri-SMEs that were selected for the first investment advisory cycle. Finding XY established the Women in Agriculture Impact Investment (WAII) Facility to accelerate early growth stage of SMEs investment using a blend of instruments and a gender lens approach through bridge financing cover and loan-discount approach using Covid relief investment support.

Through the WAII Facility, K.K Fresh Produce Exporters Limited has successfully raised investment and is being supported for further deal closure. This is one of the many deal closures that the facility has recorded and we look forward to engaging with more investors to address the “gender gap” through Gender Lens Investment and a blend of development and commercial finance.
