The Accelerated Climate Technologies Investment Fund (ACTIF) is an investment vehicle to strengthen domestic markets for climate technologies. It profiles local climate technology companies and projects where investments can be made targeting smallholder users (especially women and youths) and enterprises for productive use. Investments are made using an alternative blended financing scheme, which provides a combination of low-cost debt capital and technical assistance to mobilize further capital. The fund targets local climate tech companies who have operated for a minimum of 3 years. The solution validates a finance structure that takes point of departure from the criteria and cost of capital that have previously limited local climate technology companies' ability to access finance while at the same time demonstrating a low default rate to help build confidence in this market.
